DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATE FOR INSTITUTIONAL GIVING

The American Music Center (AMC) seeks a self-motivated individual with a demonstrated commitment to the arts who is eager to work in a collaborative environment with a dedicated team of colleagues, to start in August.

AMC is an essential resource for the new music field. Founded in 1939 by a group of composers including Aaron Copland, AMC pursues its mission of building a national community for new American music through an array of programs including an award-winning web magazine, an Internet radio station, an online library, professional development workshops, grant-making programs, and information services.

The Development Associate reports to the Director of Development and supports the Center's effort to raise funds from institutional sources.

Responsibilities include:

  • Writing grant proposals, reports, supporting documents, and related correspondence
  • Managing the grants calendar and deadlines
  • Maintaining records of proposal submissions and grants
  • Identifying and researching institutional funding prospects
  • Editing and overseeing design and production of AMC's Annual Report

Requirements: bachelor's degree; two years' administrative experience; excellent writing and organizational skills; attention to detail; facility with Microsoft Word and Excel, and database programs such as FileMaker; passion for music. Understanding of basic financial accounting preferred. Experience with contemporary music a strong plus.
