The AMC 20th Century Scores Collection at the New York Public Library (NYPL) for the Performing Arts contains over 60,000 scores of American composers, which contain both self-published and published works—some of which you cannot find anywhere else. This unique collection is available to visitors of the NYPL for the Performing Arts for research and study. Members of AMC receive a special benefit by having the opportunity to request photocopies of up to 3 scores per month for research and study from the Collection if the composer of the requested work(s) has granted a Deed of Gift to AMC. Please keep in mind that this is a perusal collection and not a circulating library. If a performer wishes to perform a work from the Collection, he or she must contact the publisher or the composer directly. If that is not possible, AMC may aid the performer(s) in finding performance material. Visitors to amc.net can always find contact information for our composers on the Online Membership Directory or on the Composer Directory. We also have contact information for music publishers.
Search below for scores in the Collection. After you have found what you are looking for, please read the check-out procedures in order to request scores from the Collection. If you have any other questions, please call our Membership and New Music Services department at (212) 366-5260 x21 or x11.
*Please Note: As of July 1, 2001, the AMC 20th Century Scores Collection was moved to The New York Public Library for the Performing Arts, which is a research library and not a circulating library.
